macos utau users have it the worst out of anyone

i like (love is a strong word) macos, but good god doing utau stuff leaves a lot to be desired

by default, openutau comes with two resamplers: worldline and worldline-r. they are… not amazing. they work pretty well with some banks (like aica), but not with a lot of other banks. especially with hitsune kumi, which i like using, it makes a lot of schwoop noises. not pleasant

a very large majority of resamplers are created for windows. there are supposedly ways to get them to work on mac and linux with wine, but so far i have had no luck

for a few months i’ve been using macres which is a fork of tn_funds and designed for mac. it’s pretty good—much better than worldline for kumi—but it’s a looping resampler, so it sounds weird with longer notes and i have to render those notes with worldline. it’s okay, but there’s still noises about half of the time

i found straycat-rs literally like fifteen minutes ago, which can be built for mac! it’s a stretch resampler, so i don’t get those looping issues. it makes some weird crunchy noises with r and w sounds though, which kind of sucks, but i can just use macres for those notes so it’s no big deal
